Log on & read online

As part of a group of Bay Area independent school libraries, we have access to a fantastic collection of up-to-date leisure reading ebooks and audiobooks, using an app called Sora from Overdrive. Instructions for getting set up are below.

Ebooks

You can read our ebooks in your browser, in your Kindle or Kindle app, or in the Sora app on your phone or iPad.

Audiobooks

You can listen to our audiobooks through the Sora app or an Overdrive app.

Getting started with Sora

Install the Sora by Overdrive app from your phone’s app store.
Open the Sora app and click Find my school
Choose "My school isn’t listed"
Enter “San Francisco University High School” and click “This is my school”
Find San Francisco University High School on the drop down menu and fill in your school email address.
Click Sign in (there is no password).

Finding a book in Sora

You can
- Click on the link from the library catalog or a What to Read email.

OR

- Search for a specific book in Sora.

OR

- Set your preferences before you browse for books
- Browse the collections, with or without set preferences.
- Set or add filters/preferences when you are browsing.

Checking out a book in Sora

When you have found a book or audiobook you want, click on "Borrow."
You can read or listen to the book on your phone or iPad.
You can download an ebook to your Kindle or Kindle app.
Books can be checked out for up to 21 days and audiobooks for up to 14 days. Books can be returned early.

You can link to your public library account to the Sora app. Just click on "Add a public library" in the settings and add in your account. San Francisco Public Library has a huge selection of ebooks and audiobooks.

Note: if you already have an Overdrive account, you can add our BAISL collection to that - email hayley.beale@sfuhs.org if you need help. If you use Libby, the other Overdrive app, you cannot add a school account to it.
