Set up your NYTimes Account

This system requires you to activate a pass using your school email address. Follow the directions provided below.

To activate your Pass, please follow these steps:

Visit nytimes.com/passes. Create a free NYTimes.com account using your school email address. If you already have an NYTimes.com account associated with your school email address, log in with those credentials.
Check your email inbox for a confirmation message. Click on the link to validate your email address and claim your pass. If you don’t receive it, check your spam folder. Contact edu@nytimes.com if you do not receive a verification email.
Your pass is good for one year, so you will have to re-validate using the process above a year after claiming your pass.

If you have trouble revalidating:

Make sure you are completely logged out of your account on all platforms before you start the revalidation.
Try using an incognito window to validate your account.

HINT: Remain logged into your NYTimes.com account to have seamless access to NYTimes.com and our mobile apps for the duration of your Pass. Visit nytimes.com/passes to view your Pass expiration timestamp at any time.

Pass users receive unlimited access to archived articles outside the date range 1923-1980; articles within that date range are subject to limited access (we do have access to these archives through Proquest Historical Newspapers ask a librarian if you have questions about the archive).
